As part of Iron Horse Week, which runs Aug. 14-Aug. 17, 2017, an Iron Horse Run will begin Aug. 14, 2017, at 6:30 a.m. on Pershing Field.
The run route will affect traffic on Magrath, Barkeley and Specker avenues; Hogan and Ellis Streets and Prussman Boulevard. During the run, traffic control point personnel will divert traffic along the route. Travelers can expect lengthy delays along the route until about 8 a.m.
Spectators are encouraged to arrive early and gather at various locations along the route to cheer the Soldiers on during the run. Spectators can watch on Magrath Avenue starting from Nelson Boulevard all the way to Hogan Street. They can also post along Specker Avenue from Prussman to Nelson boulevards.
At Nelson Boulevard, Maj. Gen. Ryan F. Gonsalves, commanding general, 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson, and Command Sgt. Maj. Richard L. Ayala Jr., acting command sergeant major, 4th Inf. Div. and Fort Carson, will leave the formation to watch as the units run by.
A weather call for the run is expected to be made Friday. This Iron Horse Run route was current as of press time Wednesday. Check with chain of command and visit the 4th Infantry Division and U.S. Army Fort Carson Facebook pages for updates.
