FORT CARSON, Colo. — Sixty-three NCOs with 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, were inducted into the NCO Corps March 21, 2019.
The ceremony was the first event in the Fort Carson McMahon Auditorium since its remodel.
The induction ceremony featured the Battalion’s newest NCOs affirming their commitment to the profession and their Soldiers.
“Eighteen years ago, I was in your shoes in a ceremony much like this one,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Ramon Baca, senior enlisted leader for 1st Bn., 41st Inf. Reg., 2nd IBCT. “This ceremony marks the transition from a junior enlisted Soldier to an NCO, and is perhaps the most drastic change that you will experience in your military career.”
First sergeants from various companies greeted the newly inducted NCOs and presented them with a copy of the NCO Creed as they passed under the chevrons.
“Not many units do this,” said Staff Sgt. Aria Mantz, human resources NCO in charge with 1st Bn., 41st Inf. Reg., 2nd IBCT. “You see it most often in infantry units.”
The event was preceded by a 4-mile run with the battalion’s NCOs and Soldiers.
“When you pinned on the sergeant chevrons, it is expected that you are ready to go on day one,” Baca said. “Understand that your decisions as an NCO can have lasting effects.”
