The U.S. Army Materiel Command deputy commanding general visited Fort Carson May 6, 2016, to discuss the sustainment capabilities of the 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson.
Lt. Gen. Larry Wyche met with a few of Fort Carson’s top officials, toured the 4th Sustainment Brigade, 4th Inf. Div., headquarters and conducted a leader professional development session at Soldiers’ Memorial Chapel during his visit to the Mountain Post.
“I am fairly impressed with what I’ve seen here at Fort Carson,” Wyche said.
“You are truly transforming how logisticians do business.”
During his visit to the “Rough Rider” Brigade, Wyche was given an in-depth tour of the brigade headquarters including the Division Sustainment Operations Center (D-SOC) by Col. Ronald Ragin, 4th SB commander. Wyche’s visit coincided with the brigade’s field training exercise (FTX) and participation of Vibrant Response 16.
“Lt. Gen. Wyche was able to see our brigade in action with his tour of the D-SOC,” said 4th SB Command Sgt. Maj. Jacinto Garza, 4th SB. “We had a lot of moving pieces between our FTX, support of Vibrant Response and units here on Fort Carson. I think he was very impressed with the flow of information coming in and out of our brigade and how the Rough Riders are able to provide support, not only here on the Mountain Post but to units involved with defense support of civil authorities training in Indiana.”
Following his tour, Wyche briefed logisticians on Fort Carson during his “Delivering Readiness in a Complex and Uncertain World” leader professional development session.
“Noncommissioned officers are truly the backbone of the U.S. Army,” Wyche said. “We have officers here, but I promise you (we) did not get to where we are without NCOs helping us along the way.”
Wyche left the room full of logisticians with a final comment before departing the chapel.
“I am proud of all of you for serving this great country and this great Army,” he said. “The 4th Infantry Division has the best logisticians in the Army. Thanks for all that you do.”
